This fall the Village is sponsoring a tree planting program in which we will subsidize 50% of the cost of up to two designated shade trees per Village property including installation. Order forms will be delivered to each property this weekend (August 17-18), or the form can be downloaded here (pdf). The requirements for participation are as follows:

  • Order and payment is due by Friday, August 30, 2019. Orders should be returned to the Village Mailbox in the Circle Park.  See the order form for a list of approved trees and their cost.
  • Trees must be positioned on the street-facing side(s) of the home in order to qualify for the Village subsidy. This will allow you and your neighbors to enjoy the trees.
  • The property owner will be responsible for calling the OUPS digger’s hotline (800-362-2764) in advance of planting to locate and mark any underground utilities.
  • The property owner will be responsible for setting stakes to mark the preferred placement of trees in the yard (the Village will supply the stakes).
    • It is recommended that trees be placed behind, but near, the right-of-way line of the property to avoid tree damage or removal during any future infrastructure repairs.
    • For the same reason, it is also recommended that trees be planted at least five feet from water lines and at least ten feet from sanitary and storm sewer lines.
  • Additional trees (more than two) can be ordered at full cost. Please note that the “full cost” price is a negotiated bulk rate and so is lower than typical retail pricing.

Trees will be delivered and planted in late October or early November 2019, and will come with a one-year warranty through Peabody Landscape Group, which is supplying the trees. The prices include mulch and stakes.
