A meeting of the Village of Riverlea Planning Commission was held October 8, 2018 at the Evening Street Elementary School. Members present were Bryce Jacob (Planning Commissioner), Janet Brown, Robert Davis, and Taylor Surface. Also present were Donell Haines and Ron Hendricks. Joshua C. Mehling served as Clerk. The Planning Commissioner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
- The minutes of the regular Planning Commission meeting of September 10, 2018 were not read since each member had received a copy. Davis moved and Surface seconded the motion that the minutes be approved as submitted by the Clerk. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 3, Davis, Jacob, and Surface; Nay: None; Abstain: 1, Brown. The motion carried 3-0-1.
- An application for a fence permit by Ron Hendricks at 276 Beverly to install a black powder coated aluminum fence at the rear of the house. Hendricks stated that this fence was to replace an old split rail fence that was in disrepair. The new fence will be 54 inches tall and run 70 ft from the corner of the house to the boundary. Davis asked why the fence will be 54 in tall vs. 48, and Hendricks replied that 54 was the shortest amount that company would install.
Brown moved to approve the permit for this fence as shown in the plans and Surface seconded this motion. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 4, Brown, Davis, Jacob, and Surface; Nay: None; Abstain: None. The motion carried 4-0.
- The Planning Commissioner noted that he had heard from a resident about a fence being installed at 5800 Olentangy that had not been brought before the Planning Commission. When he stopped by the residence to place a stop work order, he found out that the fence that was installed on the side of the house is the same size, material, and color as the fence in the front and the replacement is considered maintenance. He reminded the homeowner and contractor to contact the Planning Commission for any future work in the village.
- Surface notified the Commission of work being done at 5809 Olentangy that was not approved by the Planning Commission. Residents appear to have laid a gravel semicircular driveway from the existing driveway to the curb at the front of the house. The Planning Commissioner stated that he would visit the residence and deliver a stop work order that would require the project to receive approval from the Planning Commission to proceed.
Brown moved and Surface seconded a motion to adjourn. The motion was approved unanimously
(4-0). The meeting was adjourned at 7:15 p.m.
