A meeting of the Village of Riverlea Planning Commission was held June 14, 2021 via Zoom teleconference software. Members present were Bryce Jacob (Planning Commissioner), Janet Brown, Paul Collini, and Rich Skowronski. Also present were Paul & Cara Unrue, Lorene Haimerl, Donald Gubbins, and Catherine Gilliam. Joshua C. Mehling served as Clerk. The Planning Commissioner called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
- The minutes of the regular Planning Commission meeting of April 12, 2021 were not read since each member had received a copy. Skowronski moved and Collini seconded the motion that the minutes be approved as submitted by the Clerk. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 4, Brown, Collini, Jacob, and Skowronski; Nay: None; Abstain: None. The motion carried 4-0.
- An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Lorene Haimerl at 5805 Crescent Ct to install a black aluminum fence along the south & west property lines. The fence would replace the existing chain link fence along the south side and “rabbit” fence along the west side. The Simons, who are the neighbors on the other side of the proposed fence, were not in attendance but are in favor of the fence.
Skowronski moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for the fence as shown in the plans and Collini seconded this motion. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 4, Brown, Collini, Jacob, and Skowronski; Nay: None; Abstain: None. The motion carried 4-0.
- An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Paul & Cara Unrue at 141 Southington Ave to install a 6-foot privacy fence along the east side of the property. This will replace an existing aluminum fence and will match the existing fence on the south and west sides of the property.
Collini moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for the fence as shown in the plans and Brown seconded this motion. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 4, Brown, Collini, Jacob, and Skowronski; Nay: None; Abstain: None. The motion carried 4-0.
- An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Catherine Gilliam at 5797 Pioneer Ct to replace an existing wood deck with a paver patio, along with a sidewalk to a second patio. This project will also add a retaining wall due to the slope of the yard. Lot coverage with these additions will be 34%, which is within acceptable limits. Gilliam stated that the neighbors approve of these proposed changes.
Skowronski moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness for the fence as shown in the plans and Brown seconded this motion. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 4, Brown, Collini, Jacob, and Skowronski; Nay: None; Abstain: None. The motion carried 4-0.
Skowronski moved and Collini seconded a motion to adjourn. The motion was approved unanimously (4-0). The meeting was adjourned at 7:17 p.m.
