Regular meeting: July 12, 2010

A meeting of the Village of Riverlea Planning Commission was held July 12, 2010 at 5830 Falmouth Court. Members present were Michael Jones (Planning Commissioner), Jo Ann Bierman, Donald E. Griffith and Bryce E. Jacob. Also present Theresa Haire, Jenny Jones, Daren Brown, Janet Brown, Lori Pisching and Jeff Pisching. Pamela M. Colwell served as Clerk. The Planning Commissioner called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm.

1. The minutes of the Planning Commission meeting of June 14, 2010 were not read since each member had received a copy. Jacob moved and Griffith seconded a motion that the minutes be approved as submitted by the Clerk-Treasurer. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea, 4; Bierman, Griffith, Jacob and Jones: Nay, None. The Motion carried 4-0.
2. An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Sharon Murphy and Theresa Haire at 5800 Olentangy Boulevard to make modifications to the front and rear of the house regarding the exterior doors and windows, and to extend a brick walkway in the front. Theresa Haire made the presentation. The front of the house has two doors. Both front doors will be removed and replaced with a window. A new front door will be put in the location of an existing window. The brick walkway will be extended to the new front door. Stone, stucco, color and windows will match existing. In the rear, a door will be removed and a larger window will be installed, and two patio doors will be replaced with updated doors. Bierman moved that the application be approved as submitted. Jacob seconded the motion. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea, 4; Bierman, Griffith, Jacob and Jones: Nay, None. The Motion carried 4-0.
3. An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Joshua Hawley and Jenny Jones at 5781 Crescent Court to add piers to the front porch using concrete pavers. Jenny Jones made the presentation. She stated that through some miss communications the work has already been completed. The concrete front porch and walkway have been replaced with pavers and two paver piers were added, one on each side of the front porch. The lot coverage is 29.9%. Bierman moved and Griffith seconded the motion to approve the application as submitted. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea, 4; Bierman, Griffith, Jacob and Jones: Nay, None. The Motion carried 4-0.
4. An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Janet and Daren Brown at 5901 Olentangy Boulevard to add a 21’4″ x 22′ room behind the garage. They will also replace the wrought iron rail and post in the front with a wood column and no rail. The whole roof will be dimensional Certainteed Weatherwood shingles. The addition will be in an area that is now open space. Three trees will be removed but there are many others nearby that will not be touched. The dirt from the excavation will be used to re-grade the south side along the driveway. The windows and stucco will match existing. No stone will be removed. There will be a small landing pad at the door. Jacob moved and Griffith seconded the motion to approve the application as submitted. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea, 4; Bierman, Griffith, Jacob and Jones: Nay, None. The Motion carried 4-0. A $2,000 street bond will be required.

The Commission took no additional action. Jacob moved and Bierman seconded a motion to adjourn. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea, 4; Bierman, Griffith, Jacob and Jones: Nay, None. The Motion carried 4-0. The meeting was adjourned at 7:30 pm.
