Public Information
Architectural Review Board (ARB) meetings are held on the second Monday each month at 7:00 pm, pending the need to meet. The ARB does not do building inspection, only architectural review and zoning compliance. All Village residents are welcome and encouraged to attend the meetings.
Regular meeting: August 11, 2014
A meeting of the Village of Riverlea Planning Commission was held June 9, 2014 at 5830 Falmouth Ct. Members present were Michael Jones (Planning Commissioner), Jo Ann Bierman, Robert Davis, Bryce Jacob, and Carolee Noonan. Also present were Tom Carskadon, Steve & Cecile Durish, Mark Siegal, Gary Alexander, & Mark & Julie Ricketts. Joshua C. Mehling served as Clerk. The Planning Commissioner called the meeting to order at 7:02 pm.
- An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Mark and Lynne Siegal at 65 W Southington Ave to add an addition to the existing kitchen. The addition will be to rearrange the kitchen & add a refrigerator. The addition will be cantilevered and total about 10 square feet. Two new skylights will be added in addition to the two existing skylights; whether the two existing skylights will need to be replaced is still to be seen. All materials will match those currently existing on the house. Bierman moved and Jacob seconded the motion to approve the application for a certificate of appropriateness as submitted. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 5, Bierman, Davis, Jacob, Jones, and Noonan: Nay, None. The Motion carried 5-0.
- An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Steve & Cecile Durish at 190 W Riverglen Dr to build a screened room on a deck. The deck will be treated wood and will go over an existing concrete slab. The room will feature cedar shingles and the colors and materials will be consistent with the rest of the house. Davis moved and Bierman seconded the motion to approve the application for a certificate of appropriateness as submitted. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 5, Bierman, Davis, Jacob, Jones, and Noonan; Nay, None. The Motion carried 5-0.
- An application for a Certificate of Appropriateness by Mark & Julie Ricketts at 72 W Riverglen Dr to add a new master suite on the east side of their home as well as build a new cover over the front stoop and a new concrete drive & walkway. The materials and colors in the project will match the earlier additions to the home. The location of the new walkway & drive were chosen as not to impact the existing trees along the east property line. The architect did not calculate the lot coverage, but did not deem this to be a factor given the size of the lot, and the members of the Commission agreed with this. Noonan moved and Jacob seconded the motion to approve the application for a certificate of appropriateness as submitted. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 5, Bierman, Davis, Jacob, Jones, and Noonan; Nay, None. The Motion carried 5-0. A street bond will be required.
- The minutes of the Planning Commission meeting of July 14, 2014 were not read since each member had received a copy. The Planning Commissioner noted that the section of the minutes pertaining to 5789 Crescent Ct needed to be edited, with the referenced to the Mortines� changed to “the Auklands� and the reference to “Christine� changed to “Diane.� Bierman moved and Jacob seconded the motion that the minutes be approved as submitted by the Clerk with the above modifications. The following vote was recorded on the motion: Yea: 5, Bierman, Davis, Jacob, and Jones; Nay: None, Abstain: Noonan. The motion carried 4-0.
The Commission took no additional action. Noonan moved and Davis seconded a motion to adjourn. The motion was approved unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 7:20 pm.
